About One Step Ahead
One Step Ahead Allied Health Services Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners and Registered Psychologists to join our growing team as independent subcontractors.
We provide Psychology and Positive Behaviour Support services to NDIS participants across a range of presentations, including neurodivergence, intellectual disability, psychosocial disability, complex trauma, emotional regulation difficulties and behaviours of concern.
At One Step Ahead, we are committed to services that are person centred, neuroaffirming, trauma informed and clinically meaningful. We value dignity, collaboration, ethical practice and strategies that genuinely improve quality of life.
Why One Step Ahead?
This opportunity is suited to practitioners who want the independence of subcontracting while still being connected to a warm, supportive and clinically grounded provider.
We are not looking for clinicians who simply want to complete reports, deliver sessions and move on. We are looking for practitioners who care about the person behind the presentation, who understand the importance of relationships and who want their work to be thoughtful, respectful and sustainable.
At One Step Ahead, quality matters. We support practitioners through clear systems, responsive communication, high quality templates, clinical governance and a practice culture that values reflection, ethical decision making and participant dignity.
We offer a professional subcontractor environment with:
• Flexible working arrangements
• Ability to manage your own caseload and availability
• Warm and responsive administrative support
• Access to high quality templates and clinical resources
• Report review and quality support where required
• A supportive professional structure without removing your independence
• A neuroaffirming and person centred practice culture
• Clinical governance and support around quality and compliance
• A premium allied health brand with a strong focus on ethical practice and clinical quality
About the opportunity
We are seeking:
• Behaviour Support Practitioners assessed as Proficient, Advanced or Specialist under the NDIS Behaviour Support Capability Framework
• Registered Psychologists with experience or interest in working with NDIS participants
This is an independent subcontractor opportunity. Practitioners are responsible for sourcing, building and managing their own caseload. One Step Ahead may offer referrals where appropriate, however referrals are not guaranteed.
As part of this arrangement, practitioners can access the professional structure, systems and clinical governance of One Step Ahead while maintaining independence and flexibility in the way they work.
The role is suited to clinicians who are confident working independently, producing high-quality documentation, communicating with stakeholders and delivering services that align with NDIS expectations, ethical practice and participant centred outcomes.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for practitioners who are:
• Proficient, Advanced or Specialist level Behaviour Support Practitioners, or Registered Psychologists
• Confident in delivering high quality clinical or behaviour support services
• Able to source, build and maintain their own caseload
• Warm, reflective and clinically grounded
• Neuroaffirming, trauma informed and person centred
• Able to work independently while maintaining clear communication
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement and collaborative practice
• Committed to ethical, evidence informed and NDIS compliant work
• Comfortable receiving feedback and participating in quality review processes
• Reliable with documentation, communication and report timeframes
This role would suit someone who wants independence and flexibility, while still having access to a supportive clinical structure.

• Understanding of NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirements
Our process
Before formal engagement, shortlisted applicants will complete:
• Interview

This process helps ensure practitioners are well matched to One Step Ahead’s values, clinical standards and governance requirements.
