At One Step Ahead, we are committed to enhancing the skills, confidence, and impact of behaviour support practitioners across the sector. As part of our mission to build capacity and quality within the field, we offer a comprehensive range of clinical supervision and training services designed to support individual practitioners, teams, and organisations.
Our clinical supervisors are advanced and specialist practitioners who have been working within the sector previously as support coordinators, disability support workers, clinical practice advisors and psychologists – offering a wide range of knowledge and experience to help you navigate challenging clinical, professional or personal challenges that come with the role.
We prioritise the use of evidence-based and neuro-affirming practices, and pride ourselves on being approachable, collaborative and building a supervisory relationship built on mutual trust and respect.
Our supervisors come with a range of clinical backgrounds to help meet your needs, including;
Complex mental health and psycho-social disabilities
Trauma-informed care
Neuro-affirming supports (including DIR/Floortime)
Children and adolescents
Genetic differences such as Prader-Willi and Angelmans Syndrome
Providing culturally competent care
Restrictive practices, including management and reporting requirements of prohibitive practices.
Development of learning plans to help you provide high quality supports, and review your capability framework

Individual Supervision
We offer one-on-one clinical supervision tailored to each practitioner’s level of experience, areas of focus, and goals. Whether you're newly registered or an experienced practitioner seeking ongoing professional development, our supervisors provide a reflective, supportive, and growth-focused environment.
Group Supervision
For teams or peer groups, group supervision provides a collaborative space to share insights, debrief challenging cases, and foster a culture of continuous learning. These sessions promote shared understanding and build collective capability within multidisciplinary settings. Groups sessions are subject to availability, and include 3-4 practitioners of the same capability level and, where possible, the same interest areas.
Document Review and Quality Assurance
Our supervisors have experience providing constructive and meaningful feedback to behaviour support plans, skill development plans, and other clinical resources. Whether you are a core or new entry practitioner requiring you reports to be reviewed and signed, or a proficient and advanced practitioner wanting to develop your practice – we’re able to help.
Capability Framework Review and Endorsement
We can support with reviewing your evidence and providing endorsement of your capability framework – this can be provided within regular clinical supervision, or as short-term support.
Consultancy
For businesses or individuals seeking behaviour support services but not yet connected with a Behaviour Support Practitioner (BSP), we provide general client enquiry support. We offer guidance, interim strategies, and help navigating the next steps to ensure no one is left unsupported.
Training
We are able to provide small or large group trainings to practitioners, educators or providers on a range of specialist areas. Including, but not limited to;
Complex Mental Health
Identifying, Assessing and Reducing Restrictive Practices
Basic Positive Behaviour Support Practices
Trauma-Informed and Neuro-affirming Behaviour Support Practices
Calendar and Funding Management for Client Outcomes
If you have a particular area you are seeking training in, please don’t hesitate to contact us – we can develop tailored trainings to meet your needs.
