What is Telehealth Behaviour Support?

It’s behaviour support delivered remotely, through video calls (like Microsoft Teams), phone calls, or emails. We work directly with you, your family, support providers, schools, and other professionals—no matter where you are.

When might telehealth Behaviour Support be a good option?

💲Limited Funding – the cost of travel to and from appointments can build up quickly. While face to face can be beneficial, and in some cases the best possible option for assessment or intervention, using telehealth can help with reducing the amount of funding used on non-direct supports.

🚫Reducing Triggers – we understand that some people may have difficulty meeting someone new, or may have triggers or present with behaviours that could be challenging to navigate with in-person supports. Telehealth supports could be a good option to start to get to know your clinician, and be able to provide support to clients, their families and network without causing additional stress or discomfort to them.

🌏Living Remotely or Out of Area – finding NDIS providers with capacity is difficult even in metro areas, and many providers are unable to travel more than 30 minutes. This can make it difficult for those living just on the outskirts of city centres to receive support.

Why choose One Step Ahead?

We have clinicians who live remotely themselves, and know firsthand how limited options removes a lot of choice and control in the supports you receive. If you are unable to find a provider near you, or you’re not happy with the options available, telehealth can help you receive the support you need.

Having a telehealth Behaviour Support Practitioner or Psychologist can be a good option while you’re on the waitlist with someone close by. We’re always more than happy to help with a handover so that you continue to receive the support that you need!

Depending on your location and our waitlist, we may have clinicians available who can provide mixed supports – a combination of face to face, and telehealth services. This might mean that instead of regular face to face visits, you receive telehealth support on a regular basis and a longer face to face visit a couple of times per year. We will work with you to find a balance that is going to best help you achieve your goals!

At One Step Ahead, our Psychologists and Behaviour Support Practitioners are experienced in providing services remotely – and finding creative ways to get past the challenges that can come with this!
