Why did you become a psychologist and behaviour support practitioner?

I kind of fell into it, and feels like it was the perfect fit! When I was studying I was also working as a disability support worker, and I was hoping I could find some kind of work as a provisional psychologist that would allow me to continue supporting people with disabilities. I didn't even know behaviour support was a thing at that point, or how the NDIS worked either, but I learnt pretty quickly that it was something I loved. I like to learn, ask questions and understand people - I find that helps me a lot.

What's your favourite part about your job?

I do love the flexibility, but my favourite part is spending time with the people I support. My philosophy is that therapy should be fun, and I really look forward to my visit days because we have such a blast. It's amazing to see such positive outcomes too, and helping people recognise and celebrate the little wins they have. Hearing someone say "I'm proud of myself" just about makes my week!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to keep busy and try new things, so there's a lot! I love going for walks with my dogs, reading, gaming and anything creative. I'm a very curious person, and because I like to try so many different things, usually I can find at least one thing to connect with someone on - or something they can teach me!
